Happy Family Day!

No matter where you live, we do not need an official holiday named as Family Day to be able to celebrate our family.  That being said, it's a great time to appreciate a day off from the hustle and bustle to soak in more family time.  I often feel that we get so caught up in life that we forget sometimes how simple life really can be and should be.  Love comes naturally when we love the Lord with all our heart, our soul and mind.  He is such an awesome God!
Yesterday was a day to step away from the computer, the cell phones, the internet, the social media mania and enjoy the ones around us.  My husband and I took the time to do a few important jobs around the house and then spent time chatting on the family couch with the two dogs.  We do not have kids...yet... but our two dogs are our family right now and they do an amazing job of filling our lives richly.
The day rounded out with family around the table for a delicious dinner.  Roast chicken, roasted root vegetables, potatoes, salad and finished off with a rustic blueberry crisp.  Laughs, stories, and love.  Enjoy every moment with your family.  God bless!

What if God only showed His love one day a year?

2012 Valentine's Day is officially behind us.  What is your opinion on Valentine's Day?  Personally, I enjoy the day however my heart hurts for those families that only share and show love one day of the year.  I'm not saying everyone does who celebrates this day, more for people (and you know who you are) that they or their spouse only say I love you on this day.

In my heart, Valentine's day is what you make of it.  If you get wrapped up in all of the commercialism and fall into purchasing outrageous prices on regular items then that is unfortunate.  In our house, Valentine's day is simple.  We cuddle, say Happy Valentine's Day, I love you, exchange cards, make dinner or lunch for one another but to be honest aside from the card exchange and Happy Valentine's Day...this is for us and should be like any other day.  We should be showing love for one another every day, in a relationship, single, widowed; whatever your situation, show love to everyone.

What if God only showed his love to us on one day of the year?  How would that make you feel every other day?  Where would our lives be if we didn't have His Love?  The love that matters, the love that heals all things, rejoices over all things and can conquer any obstacle.

Romans 8:38-39 says:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
HE loves you 365 days of the year, unconditionally.  Even when we mess up, turn away, feel like giving up.  His Love is new every morning.  Bask in his love, and share it with others.

Love one another as He first loved us.  Please don't use Valentine's Day as the only day to show others love, we would not be where we are today without His Love-the one true love that matters.
